Merging and the laws of physics

There is a law of physics that concerns merging - two objects cannot be in the same space at the same time.  So, I cannot merge into a lane that has you in it, and you cannot merge into a lane that has me in it. Therefore, it is to our mutual benefit to let each other in.

Objects actually can be in the same space, if they're small enough. Quantum physics is weird like that. But a car does not count as small enough.
