Dear
junetide writer,
thank you so much for writing a story for me! I'll be happy with any story you can write for the prompts I gave, but if you'd like some additional info/ideas/thoughts about my preferences, here you go.
Worldbuilding: I'm a SF and fantasy fan through and through, and I especially love worldbuilding that gives me a sense of a world outside the scope of the story itself, a background that we don't fully see.
Characters: I like unlikely heroes and anti-heroes best, and a lot of my favourite characters belong to a certain archetype - I'd describe them as introverted control freaks with a dark edge and a penchant for sarcasm, with a Machiavellian mindset. If you choose to write a story with such a character, I'd like to ask that you please don't write a story in which they are 'cured' of or 'punished' for their introversion or any other of those characteristics mentioned above.
Oh, and since this specific archetype is male about 99% of the time, I especially love it when I come across a female version.
Character dynamics: I love strange bedfellows, unlikely alliances, enemies forced to work together, that kind of thing. People with different agendas, loyalties, and backgrounds finding common ground, without any one of them being 'in the right' or 'in the wrong'. Elective affinities, in a way - chosen family.
And I should probably say that romantic or sexual relationships of all types are welcome but not specifically requested. In fannish terms: gen, het, m/m or f/f slash - all good. :)
Themes: I love stories about making compromises, ethical dilemmas, conflicting loyalties, and characters forced to make hard choices. I love culture clashes and dealing with different mindsets or mentalities. I also love happy/hopeful endings. (Ambiguous endings are fine too, but inevitable tragedy or completely dark endings are usually not my thing.)
I hope that helps a little! But if it doesn't, don't worry, and don't feel bound by this if it isn't what inspires you. As I said above - any story you can write for my prompts will make me very happy. :-)
