  • I had a bit of a relapse, or perhaps just another migraine, but either way - I'm sick of this! GO AWAY!

  • Also, I've had anxiety dreams before (mainly the "brakes or steering wheel on the car not working" or "tap won't shut off properly, water everywhere" kind), but last night was the first time I dreamed about getting an assignment email for an ( Read more... )

I did a little Chinese last summer and a little Korean after that. I was just annoyed that I didn't understand anything on my Asian shows except for the Japanese ones (I learnt a little around the end of high school). After that, I decided to continue only one properly and that's Korean because they have an alphabet. After Chinese, Korean seems extra easy. lol

Lots of languages! I can't even imagine looking at another language right after Chinese. Very admirable!

Chinese has its difficulties but it still seems much easier than Japanese, at least. Not that I know any Japanese myself. *g*

Chinese grammar is super easy for English/French/Spanish speakers. Japanese and Korean grammars are more complex, but very logical, like German.

I'm pretty much tone deaf, so a lot of Chinese words sound alike to me.

Yeah, Chinese grammar is delightfully easy! And for German speakers, the compound words are very intuitive, which helps a lot too.

Haha, me too on being tone deaf. Tones are really hard for me - learning characters is just tedious and takes work, but tones are hard. It took me half a year to be able to hear the difference, and I still can't recognise them reliably. But I'm making slow progress anyway, and as far as listening comprehension goes, context accounts for a lot.
