Frost/Nixon (quite excellent, and why the hell didn't Michael Sheen get an Oscar nomination?)

ITA. I think maybe because in the Best Actor field, he was overshadowed by Langella, but his part was so big that no one would think of him for Supporting.

I just saw this onstage Tuesday night, with Stacy Keach as Nixon and Alan Cox as Frost. Keach and Langella were fairly comparable, although I liked Langella slightly better, but Sheen was definitely the better Frost. Cox was good in the "nailed him!" moment at the end, but Sheen was much better at creating a sympathetic character.

I think Sheen was snubbed for this role and his role in The Queen because they were both very subtle, understated performances. Oscar likes over-the-top scenery chewing. That said, I look forward to seeing more of Sheen in the future and I hope that he gets a nomination some day. I really like him.

I agree with that--in both films he had the misfortune of playing opposite a much showier actor.
