It took Angel a few tries to find the portal back to our dimension, but he found it and we made it back home safely. I was relieved and scared to back. We were home, no more weird dimensions, but we were also back to a world were we were living under the dictatorship of a mad man. More than the relief and fear was overwhelming happiness. In less

I was walking down the hall, trying to figure out who I could go talk to about this, and I happened to be right by Fred's lab. Maybe she could tell me something...the end of the day was near anyway, and there she was, still working in her lab, wading through piles of paperwork.
I walked up and said, with a smile, "Haven't you heard of quitting time yet, Fred? You know you don't have to work through the night to get all of that done, right?"

"Just on my way out. I missed the meeting in Angel's office earlier and wanted to know if I missed anything. I'm sure it was boring business CEO stuff, but still, I pride myself on being in the know. In fact, I was wondering if you'd like to go out for a drink so we can talk about it in a lessing boring environment. It's on me. You game, Fred?"
I hope she caught my drift and was also hoping that no one else caught my drift. The old me slipped out at the end, but I didn't think that would raise too much suspicion on anyone's radar, hopefully not hers either. I didn't want to her to think I was a spy for Wolfram and Hart, because I'm not. But I've got to get this nagging suspicion of the leaders of America out of my head. Fred could help with that, hopefully.
