Mini-Fill: "The Call" allronix1 July 14 2011, 11:06:10 UTC
The "call" was a feeling all Programs knew from the moment they rezzed into life, that pull of purpose and knowledge that no one had words to express because no Program needed to define the concept. Guardians like I-No and old Dumont explained it to newly-rezzed Programs:

"The Users write us in lines of code and threads of logic, and in the process, a tiny spark of their energy and spirit is given to us. This is what gives us life, and this is how we know them. It is through this spark that we hear them when they call, and we know that they have created us to serve them..."

Every Program felt the call differently, however. Ram described it as feeling like hands on his shoulders and a gentle tug. Yori said Lora-3's call was a feeling of intense curiosity, like being told to come over and share in a joke or discovery that was far too good to be ignored.

Alan-1's call was a hard, visceral pull towards the I/O Tower. Alan-1 had always impressed upon Tron the importance of his function, guarding the System and its inhabitants from harm ( ... )

:)

Your awesome is severe for giving so much significance to a moment that in-movie kept making me laugh about how high Tron seemed (those programs and their 'pure source'...). I like the descriptions of the differences between programs; curiousity seems very fitting for Lora/Yori's connection.

Oh and so much win at Tron's perspective on Flynn. XD Seriously. It's a beautiful interpretation of how Tron saw as many oddities as Ram did without showing the same curiousity/suspicion.

Squee! I was hoping someone would fill this. I love how the "calls" vary by User...I also liked the Lora and Yori thing, so adorable. And I love this:

"The Users write us in lines of code and threads of logic, and in the process, a tiny spark of their energy and spirit is given to us. This is what gives us life, and this is how we know them. It is through this spark that we hear them when they call, and we know that they have created us to serve them..."

<3333 That is like, my headcanons. I'm not the OP, but thank you so much for writing this!

The closest we ever get to an explanation of the whole Program world and its relationship to the analog one is through Gibbs's rant at Dillinger that "our spirit remains in every Program we design!"Did Gibbs mean it literally? Hell no. Is that exactly what appears to be the case? Hell yes. The Programs honor the face of their creators, but also seem to have a spark of their creators' souls, memories, and life powering them. The Programs are aware of their creators and what's been given them by their Users. On the other side of the screen is a rather tragic ignorance on the part of the Users ( ... )

YES I LOVE THAT RANT. <3

<3 All of this.

I'm not sure how much thought went into some of this on the creators' part, but I sure love thinking about it...

O hai thar, OP here (LOL, the thread actually starts one post up. I just always post prompts anon) and I'm soooooo glad you filled this. Frankly, I was giving up hope on that.

And this is just great. I love your description of how the call feels for different programs and how the guardians explain things to newly rezzed ones - such a strange poetry. And Tron's perception of Flynn - pretty hilarious, but very true.

THANK YOU.

I suck at writing smut. Angst, family themes, and mysticism? No problem! I was disappointed that this wasn't filled, as one of the things that really drives my interest in this universe are the spirituality and the implications. Therefore, I'll go and fill it ( ... )

Yeah, the whole communication with Users, as portrayed in the 82!Tron, was very much like going-to-church experience. And now that you pointed this out, it does make more sense that there are multiple Gods - as there are obviously multiple users. I somehow didn't quite register the fact until now, and it's such an obvious thing.

Ah, I'll have to look for that novel one day. Sounds like a pretty decent thing (although that Tron/Yori love scene made me facepalm and laugh alteratively. I hope the rest is better written).
