Tron doesn't get out of the Sea anonymous August 11 2011, 00:54:26 UTC
I'd like to see a fic where, instead of getting out by himself or being rescued, Tron falls apart in the Sea and merges with it, effectively giving it consciousness in some pseudosymbiotic way. When Quorra (or Sam or whoever) goes back, they have to deal with this alien thing guarding the place. Maybe it remembers what it used to be, maybe it doesn't, maybe it can communicate with the ISO or User right away, maybe it can't. I'd love some "Abyss" type of species gap bridging going on, but really whatever a filler feels like doing is fine by me.

Nothing truly dies in the Grid.

It only becomes the lesser parts of itself, the things that make up the sum undone. Everyone knows that, even the newborn Programs with their heads in the wrong places and their minds lingering too long on the concept of death. Because destruction was never enough for CLU, oh no: he had to raze and burn all in his wake. They still tell stories about him, about the man that dared challenge their facsimile of a deity. Kevin Flynn and CLU, his young self, were made in a flash of light. They disintegrated in one as well.

Rinzler (no, Tron) thinks, with all the conviction that he has, that it should be peaceful. In the wide expanse of nothing. The Sea is where we all go, when our time is here. The Sea is made for the broken machines, the massacred parts. Wire and metal and water all merge into one ( ... )

@OP: Argh, sorry, I mean 1/2 not 1/3! My apologies ;____;. Also I've never seen the Abyss so I don't know if this was what you were getting at. Hope it's all right :)

"It spoke," Sam say, his hands shaking. "It spoke in a thousand voices, all in unison. I can't believe it."

"That's not possible," says Alan, looking out over the waterfront. "Your father didn't make it that way."

The shoreline is dotted with glass, sparkling in the light. Sam tilts his head, and swears he can hear screaming.

OP here. OP is delirious. OP cannot believe OP's luck. Can I do something for you in return? Please say yes.

This is exactly as dark and epic and heartbreaking as I hoped for. I love the fragmented feel of it, the consciousness slow and heavy and moving like water. And anon, you used a line from The Waste Land. Are you linked to my brain?

There are no words enough to thank you. Just a happy, larger than life sigh.

Fifteen, damn. (I'll be honest: first thought was "... are you even allowed in here", then "damn, this fandom is talented". Ignore the first one and stick around, I am enjoying these symbolist fics.)

Could you link me to something you'd like filled, so I can return the favour? Because this take on the Sea is just beautiful.
