Super Bowl

Feb 07, 2005 08:53

We had a really nice Super Bowl party yesterday, complete with my famous chili, in regular and meatless varieties. We had said we wouldn't throw a party this year, just a low-key chili cooking, but in the end there were about eight folks there, which constitutes a party, I think. There was also cake, and cookies, and rotel dip ( Read more... )

I can send it to you, but I don't have it with me here at work. I'll email it to you tonight. It's not too terribly involved, and it takes about 2 hours to cook from start to finish (including all the prep time, etc.).

And it is GOOD.

Haha, I only went veggie on that one because my girlfriend is vegetarian. So we should thank her.

I'm actually looking for a better way to do the veggie chili thing. We used that fake meat in substitution for real meat, but I bet there's a way to do it with none of that crap.

Couldn't agree with you more on the clock management issue; especially in the second half. Unbelievable.

You're spot on about T.O. as well. Did you hear his interview after the game? He was dead right--if this had been Favre, everyone would be saying "how heroic" but since it was him, it was "self centered." It was nothing short of amazing. Not only playing the whole game, but playing brilliantly.

Did you get to see the Heels earlier in the afternoon? Can't wait for Wed night at Cameron!!

I did watch the Heels game, they always look a little rusty on the road. That worries me for Wednesday night, but I really can't wait.

And Marvin Willams...damn. Did you see that nasty dunk he threw down, over the defender, through the foul? He's going to be unreal next year.

Heck, I think he's unreal this year.

I hope you're not dissing on Favre. He's a hero.

I don't know if this is a race issue or not. I think T.O. is just an asshole. I think we'd be having this same discussion if it were Jeremy Shockey or someone like that.

T.O. has spent his whole career proving how selfish he is. I don't think he should expect less than suspicion from the media in this case.

I think you're forgetting how much he whined and bitched his last year in San Fran, even going so far as calling Jeff Garcia gay. Then in the offseason, he and his agent were too dumb to file proper paperwork, and then he sucker-punched Baltimore so he could get out of the whole deal.

There's no love lost between me and Baltimore (I'm a Titans fan, remember?), but that whole situation was just wrong. He's one of those players I will always pull against because of crap like that. Others in that category:

Ray Lewis
Randy Moss
Eli Manning
Payton Manning (because he always blames his team)
Barry Bonds
Everyone who played for the Trailblazers in the last 5 years
Kobe Bryant
Jeff George (like it matters)

This is a fun game. Any I'm missing? This may be a separate post.
