Had the pleasure of my boyfriend's company the past week, as he is still gainfully unemployed. This global economic crisis is great for our relationship. I always drove stick shifts. When my younger daughter was 17, I told her she couldn't drive my car because it was a stick shift, and she had learned on our other car, which had an automatic.

Enuf said. She just took my car, drove it, and taught herself. She wasn't bad, but she had no idea how to turn at an intersection with it.

Both my daughters drive sticks. My son drives an automatic.

I've had great success instructing teen girls the fine arts of driving automatics. even they can be taught, provided they're wearing bikinis
