"Somebody drove a car through my wall!"

So, a girl has been flirting with me online all day on OKCupid. It's been a lovely day, because of this. she's very erudite, and denies flattering me, because the definition of flattery is insincere or excessive complements, and she claims neither is true, as she doesn't feel she has been excessive in her complements, nor were they insincere ( Read more... )

Now that is a damn fine excuse for not showing up to work tomorrow. Also, makes for a great journal. And a great reason to break a date. Let her know she can get tons of mileage out of this (assuming hopefully that her neighbor is ok, and even more mileage if not).

What?

I'll let her use this excuse however she wants. She's very shaken up, and I'm glad she's okay.

It didn't go so well for the neighbor, it sounds like. She overheard the cops using words like "autopsy".

I don't know if alcohol was involved. The driver was dropping the neighbor off, and I'm guessing put her suburban into a forward gear, rather than reverse when she was trying to back out, because she drove through him and into the wall. I don't know, really, but my friend says the driver ran immediately to try to help the neighbor after she climbed out of the car.

The girl emailed me again this morning, with an update, and expressed gratitude that I called her to check on her. A friendly voice was a good thing for her to hear. when I called. I'm glad I could help that much, at least.

She's new to the area, and doesn't really know anybody. She wrote it was touching that an anonymous person she was flirting with online cared enough to check up on her.

Sorry, I was amused, but I guess my message failed to convey that.

Yeah, She's got excuses for a lot of strange behavior for the foreseeable future.

I was pretty well along toward falling for her. We'd been exchanging messages all day, and they were delightful. I know it's not unusual for me to develop crushes, but I was pretty far into falling for this girl. She's very cool, judging from her writing.
