Oh, shit, it's really hitting the fan now, isn't it. I'm very interested to see what you're going to do with this, I've been half expecting this games to end with a spectacular double suicide. But of course I'm chiefly interested in how this effects Finnick and Haymitch. I love how you explore what that pin means to Haymitch. Nobody ever talks about that and you were spot on about how it just killed him to see it be used in another games.

Anyway, it was great as usual and I'll give you more thoughts later on.

Yup, shit hitting the fan. We've resolved all the pressing issues and are fast approaching the resolution. It's very exciting! :D

I've been half expecting this games to end with a spectacular double suicide.

By Kat and Peeta, or by Haymitch and Finnick? ;)

Hah, that pin. There are so many signs that Collins never thought past the first book when she wrote it and this is one. Haymitch just never reacting to this incredibly important reminder of his past is exactly the kind of thing that happens if you randomly decide in your unplanned sequel that you want to use that pin again.

Thank you, and like always looking forward to your thoughts. :) I always break into squee when I see them in my inbox.

Well, I'm baaack. Life has been unusually busy and tiring lately, I've had a hard time sitting down and organizing my thoughts for any kind of in-depth commentary ( ... )

I hope you know that you write the best comments. ♥

I have read your fic warnings, so I'm expecting the double suicide to be Katniss/Peeta, with the nightlock. :)

Hah. Nobody else seems to have read those. I'm gonna go AU a little before the nightlock though. :)

I have become so ridiculously shippy about these two. I mean, I've shipped before, but I really feel a need to wrap these two up and keep them safe.

Aww! I know exactly what you mean. They can put me in a ridiculously fluffy mood these days. I've occasionally leaned back and thought about them to make myself relax.

The sex issue of the two of them is still on the table, though, Games or not. That's going to get resolved.

So what would they both eat, if left to their own devices? Heh. Early in the story, it says that Effie has been sending Haymitch supremely unhealthy Capitol food for ages. Left to his own devices, he'd be doing things like hold a chunk of bread in his one hand while spooning Capitol jam out of a can with the other. Having starved for so long, I think ( ... )

I didn't proofread that last comment at all, so I apologize for any and all mistakes/incoherence.

I loved how you went more into Haymitch's background and let your readers in on what he's thinking a little more. You referenced that scared 16-yr-old, showed how he still lives inside Haymitch (much as Finnick still struggles with his inner traumatized 14-yr-old), and showed how he got from there to here. Now that I have read more of Millari's fic I can see how Haymitch's past informs his present:

There were times for touch, but he knew Haymitch well enough to recognize this wasn’t one of them. Haymitch battled things out on his own in his head first, where it was safe because nobody could hear and get hurt. I can see how Haymitch has developed his coping skills around his desire not to give in to the impulses and anger he feels are his father's legacy, I can see it showing up at different points throughout this fic. My hat is off to you both for creating and using Haymitch's backstory -- give your girlfriend my compliments ( ... )

I'd love to hear more about what points of this fic you noticed this, because while I assumed millari's backstory for SC, I must admit I did this subconsciously. We talked about it so much, I don't even know anymore where SC ends and Planting Seeds begins. And thank you, I did. I was reading this with my head on her lap, so she saw. :) She also informed me that you made a Grinch reference. ;)

His learned helplessness is something that developed through repeated collisions with brick walls and that is a perfect recipe for becoming "stuck" and clinically depressed.Ugh, yeah. Haymitch's whole way of thinking is a taboo in Panem society. You don't think around corners, you don't twist the bigger picture. He does entirely ( ... )
