So Many FEELINGS roguedemon November 10 2014, 04:12:46 UTC
I have just been sitting here and re-reading this and trying to be coherent and it's just not going to happen today, both because I'm still feelling a little muddled and because I'm just too emotional about this. This meant so much more to me than any of the movies ever will. It's definitely my favorite fanfic of all time, and I have read a LOT of fanfic. But it's more than just fanfic, you are one of the most amazing writers I have encountered ( ... )

Hey, just a quick one to say that I'm waiting for a time when I can focus on anything longer than a Tumblr reblog before I reply in earnest, but THANK YOU so very much. I also loved your email, and I can't wait for what else you have to say. ♥

Granted, I didn't get around to replying to this before. And also, take all the time you need. That said, I have to tell you that when I check my emails in the morning, a small part of me is always hoping that there'll be one by you, or a notification about a comment by you. :)

First of all, phewww. I still can't believe that sucker is finished! And I am so very proud of your compliment, man. Especially since I'm honestly really proud of the story myself. Not just because I wrote a whole long novel in English. (longest thing I ever wrote in any language, and English usually requires less words than German) And writing a novel in English just to prove that I can is a thing that I needed to get out of my system, I think. But also, this is the fanfic I've wanted to write for years. If you'd ask my girl, she'd tell you that for almost every fandom I've been in, I've come up with a half-shaped plot for a complex sexual abuse recovery story. But I never wrote them; never mind I like reading that kind of story, something inside of me ( ... )

Aww, I'm glad that things ended on a good note between Haymitch and Chaff and the part where Haymitch gave his brother's things away to Mitchy showed how far he's come and it was also really sweet (and I'm sappy so I like a little of that)! I thought it was an appropriate final chapter.

....and, of course, congratulations on finishing!!

The Haymitch/Chaff friendship wasn't a big part of the story, but very important to me to resolve. ♥

Thank you! I loved getting all your comments for this fic.

Well, it made sense that there would only be so much of it since the story was from Finnick's point of view, but you still resolved it and that was very satisfying. ♥

You're welcome! It's a very full story, so it was easy to find things to remark upon- and I knew you appreciated the comments even if they were short, which is an encouragement toward leaving them.

Man, I just wrote out a whole comment and it got eaten. I desperately need a new computer and probably a new iPad at some point. So to cut to the chase, i was ruminating on how it hit me after I read this chapter how much things are really going to suck for Gale in this universe. He's stuck in 12 for the duration. I have never been able to get all the Gale hatred. He's extremely bright, he sees the big picture, he understands that everyone is complicit in a system that basically condemns him to a life of constantly struggling to keep his family from starving to death and working himself to death in the mines. God, I'd be furious too. Also, he commits some genuinely selfless acts -- it's not like volunteering to go save Peeta would help him in any way. Anyway, I think Everlark fans hate him for just being there and everyone else hates him for the comment he made about the workers in the nut. It was wrong, yes, but I certainly understood where he was coming from. These are the people that are working for the military that casually ( ... )

I like Gale rather a lot. I like how smart he is, the way he has a capacity of how the Hunger Games are a part of a bigger scheme of oppression. And honestly, I think most people just dislike him because he gets in the way of Everlark. Also because of the bomb that killed Prim. But you can only blame him for that if you have a really reduced scope, methinks. That said, I like to think that the Games school in this universe has a therapeutic value for him. It gives him a sense of effectiveness and agenda. Once the school grows, he can quit the mines and get actually paid for doing it fulltime. I'm sure that'll give him a really good reputation in the district in the long run, so that he eventually gets a higher social status. It'd be good for him ( ... )
