Restaurants were empty, the one I was looking forward too open late, shortly after I sat down was approached by the apologetic manager saying they ( Read more... )

As to the former,
Evuhl forces at work. He wasn't paid up in the right places.

As for the latter:
We are an opportunistic species, at all levels. High on impulsivity, and bad with prioritizing/triage/numbers. I'm still amazed that every year, gun control, abortion, assisted suicide, and gay marriage take up hundreds of millions of dollars in ad revenue on both sides fighting over them.

honestly, I think he would have had a better chance as an independent. He was trying to work via the Republican system, and they simply weren't including him.

I found his appearance on Colbert during the RNC very interesting. He mentioned actually being invited to speak there, but on the condition of talking points, which he refused.

Possibly.

I still think the same thing would have happened. I suspect that the powers that be, predicted a close race (e.g. 5-10%) and didn't want to give anybody room to create a stalemate...which I think he very well could have, or draw away votes from Republicans which as we've seen were rather lackluster.

He got a lot of passionate support but the bottom line is this games are won heavily by mass media assistance and that was omitting him even when he got 6% of some of the votes, or picking the absolute worse lights, more often than not.
