Day ?, World ?: It's Mourning in America

((Sorry about the delay. You know how it is.))

Scott wiped the blood from his eyes and looked around. The Endeavor was ostensibly in one piece, but the damage had been rough. Wires sprouted from the consoles like flowers and ivy, and one bulkhead was crushed inward. It occurred to him that he was upside down, but he decided not to move. Outside ( Read more... )

"Did I sleep through the in-flight movie?" That from Akemi, who is still strapped into her seat, although the seat is still connected to the deck by only a single bolt, and hangs at a precarious angle. "How did Tom Hanks do against the albino?"

Ukiko's nails cut into her palms. Her broken leg had been somehow forced into an inappropriate angle and pinned by the crumpled bulkhead.

"You really are jealous that I find Audrey Tautou attractive, aren't you?"

"The question isn't whether you like her," Akemi points out, unfastening her belts and putting her hands up to catch her as she falls. "Whoop! It's whether she likes you." Standing and shaking her hair out of her eyes, the former agent of the Noh casts a quick glance around at the rest before giving Ukiko a closer examination. "Oh, good."

She offered a weak smile, though her eyes shimmered. "Clearly, this is a cry for attention." She braced her knee and tried once more to pull free. "Did you ever see that one film... I forget the French director, but it was a satire. If the French had Noh agents. Dreadful, really, but she was adorable in that."

"Uugh..." Henry's eyes blink open, and he almost instantly feels bruises all over his body. "I think I am...I don't know what happened, though." He looks over to his side. "Eileen...?"

Eileen doesn't respond for a moment, keeping a death-grip on her restraints with eyes squeezed shut, fighting back a wave of dizziness and nausea before realizing that fixing the upside-down problem would probably help with that. Going back in time and bracing her head before it could get slammed into the hull behind her would also help, but you can't win them all. She swallows and eeks out, "Alive. And junk."

Opening her eyes and looking, she finds Henry looking thankfully not dangerously worse for the wear, but then sees Ukiko and her predicament. With a low hiss in substitute for a curse, Eileen looks around for a way of getting down that won't mean a broken neck or wrist. Even if her vision wasn't blurry, she wouldn't trust herself to try a handstand like Akemi the one managed effortlessly.

Henry unhooks his belt and collapses in a heap on the floor with a rather loud thump. He manages to grab onto the seat before he falls all the way, so he at least lands on his back rather than his head. Still, it's a second before he manages to straighten himself out. He rubs the back of his neck while he stands up. The damage is...incredible. How did they survive this?

He's torn between helping Eileen and trying to get Ukiko free first. He'll have to get through a lot of debris to get over there, so he decides on Eileen. Maybe they can both help. He almost calls out to Ukiko and Akemi, telling them to wait till he gets there, but that doesn't hit him as a good idea. So instead he just moves under Eileen and says, "I'll catch you...uh, if you want to get down."

Eileen does not feel like joking around right now - Actually, I was thinking about staying here for a while. You know, call a couple of friends, try to catch popcorn in my mouth, have a stroke, it'll be fun - so she just gives him a semi-amused look as she grabs onto her seat back with one hand and undoes buckles and clips with the other. With a bit of fumbling and wincing and help from Henry, she's able to get down, gracelessly but sans further injury.

Standing upright again is actually just as dizzying right now as hanging upside down, but she can deal. She smiles and thanks Henry, then sets about shoving debris out of the way so they can go help Ukiko get free. Worrying about the damage to the ship and the implication for their trip home doesn't yet occur to her.

Fussing about with her restraints, Nix ignored the throbbing on the side of her head, the wet stickiness in the same spot and the scratches adorning her arms. Her body would take care of those. She had just gotten her unborn child calmed down as the crash had greatly upset it. Getting frustrated with her uncooperative seatbelt, her answer was curt.

"I'm fine." Finally fed up she just pulled it apart and floated out of her seat and maneuvered herself to land on the now new floor of the ship.

"Are you sure?" Henry asks worriedly. "Your head's cut...." And this is the point where he realizes his medical knowledge is very limited, and he can't offer much in the way of assistance. "If we could find the first aid kit...." He looks around, but isn't expecting too much. It's probably buried under several tons of debris right now.

Nix shakes her head. "I'm fine, really. My head is nothing to worry over."

"I'm fine, I'm fine, nobody worry or anything." Cid shoves a pile of debris off of himself, and continues what he'd been up to - picking shards of glass out of his face.

"Hey, hon - it's hard for me to see... I'm okay, I think, but... how's the sproglet?" His voice hesitant.

Henry Sherman-Townshend is still hanging upside down and looking very much unconscious. That proves to be deceiving, however. Something's not right and it's pulling him out of his lack of sleep. His eyes suddenly blink open and he frantically looks to his right. "Liz? Where is she?" Liz's chair is completely missing, nowhere to be found.

"What?" Scott looked around. "Hey, where IS she?" He scrambled about. "What HAPPENED, Cid? Anyone?"

"I don't know- I don't..." He squeezes his eyes shut and holds a hand to his head. "She not anywhere- oh, god...we haven't- she can't be gone. I..." This has not been a good day. He doesn't open his eyes, but he starts tugging at his seatbelt. Eventually, he'll figure out how it unhooks.
