Hi This is the first post to this community and I have written my own fanfiction I would like to show to you all. I hope you enjoy it! Thanks! :D
"We're hit!" the young man yelled. Sparks of electricity danced across the control panel. "All hands this is the captain we're abandoning ship!" the captain anounced over the announcer. But it was too late. An explosion ripped through the hallways that was so powerful it killed everyone on board. Everyone except... the young man and the captain. Nobody knows how they survived.
"Ugh... what... what happened...?" the young man inquired to nobody in particular. He stood up and surveyed the damag around him; nothing but concrete, metal wreckage, and the occasional casualty.
"So! At least one of you managed to survive!" he heard someone bellow. It Was the captain. "I haven't seen anyone else, and I've been looking for quite some time! It's unfortunate, it was a good crew." he said to the young man. The young man nodded. "Come on, let's go back to the complex. It's getting late." And the two walked away from the rubble. To the Redmond Complex.
It wasn't until next moring when the young man and the captain reached the Redmond Complex. "What's your name, private" the captain asked. "Mann. Mann Younge." the young man replied.
"Oh" said the captain. "Listen Younge, that attack on our airship can only mean one thing. That Japchina has officially declared war on Americana. With there proton guns we do not stand a chance. We must consult the oracle."
As Younge and the captain walked down a hallway to the Chamber of Oracles, a flashing neon banner on the ceiling was displaying the current time: June 14th, 2045. So it's in the future.
Finally they reached the Chamber of Oracles. In here was a giant monitor and two torches flickering on either side. "Oh great ORacle" the captain said, "reveal yourself!" A bunch of tremors followed. Suddenly the screen lit up with words. At the top in a majestic font flashed WINDOWS 2000 TROUBLESHOOTING
"What problem are you having?" it said
"We can't figure out how Japchina's proton guns work" the captain replied
"Are the proton guns plugged in and turned on?"
"Yes"
"Your proton guns may not be installed correctly. You may access your proton gun technology from my keyboard." A keyboard and a mouse fell down from the ceiling.
"To check the status of your proton gun hardware, double click on Device Manager. Then, double click on Proton Gun and then click on Properties. If your device is not listed, it may not be correctly installed"
"No it's listed I can see it it's right at the top"
"What is the current status of the device?"
"Where is it I can't see it"
"Are you in properties?"
"Yeah but I can't see it where is it"
"It should be right at the bottom"
"Oh there it is"
"What is the current status of the device?"
"This device is working properly"
"Are the phase variances aligned? There may be compatibility problems with the phase variances."
"Where do I find out what the phase variances are?"
"Go to the desktop and double click on My Computer, then double click on the drive that you installed your Photon Gun software to."
"I don't know which drive I installed it to"
"What?"
"I said I don't know which drive I installed it to I think that was Corporal Kene who installed it should I go and find him and ask him"
"No, you can use the search tool."
"Where's the search tool"
"Click on Start on the task bar and then hover over Search until the menu expands and then click on Files and Folders."
"Ok what am I searching for I don't know what it's called"
"Well hell, I don't know what they are either, try doing a search for a folder called Photon Gun."
"I didn't get any results"
"Photon_Gun?"
"Nope."
"Photongun?"
"Nope."
"What about just photon?"
"Oh there we go it was on drive J"
"See that was a lot easier than doing it manually!"
"Haha yeah I'd probably still be in drive C right now"
"Okay, right click on the folder and open it."
"Ok there are like 6 .ini files in here but that's it"
"What are they called?"
"cint.ini, cout.ini, cmain.ini, cset.ini, pmain.ini, and pset.ini"
"Okay go inside pset.ini. The p stands for phase as in phase variance so logically that is where you'd want to go to make sure they are aligned."
"Ok what am I looking for here?"
"Do a search for 'varia*' and change every setting that has to to with the variances to 1 so that they align."
"What does the * do?"
"It's a wildcard. That means that it'll search for anything starting in varia, whether it be variable, variance, or the Varia Suit from Super Metroid."
"Oh okay."
After some time passed, the captain had realigned all of the variances.
"Younge be a dear and run down to the experimental weapons facility and yell at me if the photon gun isn't working"
"Yes sir."
Moments later, a yell is heard.
"It's not working."
"Mister computer that didn't solve the problem"
"Are your photon guns compatible with Americana technology?"
"Well gosh that's a pretty good question it would make sense if it didn't how do I find out if it is or not"
"To find out if your photon gun is supported by Americana technology, check the Americana Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) at the Americana Web site."
"Where's the Web site"
"Do you see how Americana Web site is in blue and underlined?"
"Yes"
"And how the cursor turns into a hand?"
"Yes"
"That means you can click on it and it will open a new window which will link directly to the Americana Web site."
"Oh okay that's pretty cool"
"Is it supported by Americana?"
"Oh damn no it's not does this mean we can't use the technology"
"Oh not at all it's just a hardware conflict but that can be resolved by downloading and installing a Japchina software interface. You can get that from their Web site."
"Oh so I can click on Web site here too?"
"Yes"
"Wicked"
"Do you want me to come help?" Younge yelled from down the hall
"No it's okay we got it under control" the captain replied
"Alright where should I install this software to"
"The same directory as the Proton Gun software. It will automatically patch itself."
"Ok it's installed try again!" the captain yelled down the hall
"It's still not working" Younge replied
"Are you SURE it's plugged in and turned on?" the troubleshooter asked
"Yes"
"This troubleshooter is unable to solve your problem. You may want to contact the manufacturer."
