bokonon25: uhoh
bokonon25: i'd better revise what i think is coolI like to avoid giving music commentary. In order to function properly as Houston's indie-compass and keep our playlist fresh, all ktru dj's are required to review at least 5 cd's every semester. I may have reviewed a total of 5 since my first semester - 2 years ago. The only ( Read more... )

I've reviewed 1 CD during the past 3 semesters at KTRU. I don't tihnk i'd give much stuff a good review because honestly i feel like a lot of the stuff we have is crap to be honest. There are many gems in the sea of shit, but mostly shit. however, i know there are a lot of people who like the stuff i call the "sea of shit," so i don't want my jaded taste to give those CDs unfair reviews. i'm sorry. i just can't enjoy genetic memory. i just don't like the sound of someone farting into a microphone for an hour, banging pots for two hours, or playing random notes on some instrument they made up for forty-five minutes. also many times i preview the CD before i go to review it, but then i just realized that if i like it before i review it, my review will be just as fair and balanced as Fox News. that's why i dont review. oh well.

i disagree. i'm not saying the entire ktru library is revolutionary musical gold, but i think "sea of shit" is unecessarily harsh. for every cd, there is at least one dj who enjoyed it and i'm sure there are listeners who agree. i've gotten requests for genetic memory tracks and i'm pretty sure they would be offended by your description of their genre-of-choice. different strokes for different folks, you know ( ... )

just to be fair, i did say that i know there are many people who like the stuff i call shit, which i still think is not harsh because it is my opion. my 'stroke' if you will.

Lizard XXI: so we agree her newest album is crap
Lizard XXI: so how can you use the fact that jewel uses "u" as support for why kelly clarkson doesn't suck so much?
trubedour lp: it's politics
trubedour lp: i'm spinning

pitchfork is composed of a group of postmodern decontextualists that are too intellectual for their own sake. they suck. i have a friend that does reviews for mixed tapes dot something, and i've grown more attached to taht website. pitchfork and their edu-ma-cation can go get a college degree and be successful in life. leave the music reviews to those who know music.
