So Thursday, after our day of rest, Meredith and I woke up to catch a ride at 9:30 with our friends the Gerbers out to Plainview, TX and despite estimates we had heard of 6 hours, and MapQuest's 7 hour, 9 minute estimate, we pulled into Plainview at 3:30 after stopping for an hour in Vernon.

On Wednesday, December 22, we departed for Alabama.  We left around 9:30 AM, just as it had started sleeting here in Dallas.  Our goal was to try to get ahead of the foul weather, but shortly after we left we were joined on our journey by our travelling friend, rain.  For the drive to Alabama, it rained 12 hours out of the 12 hours and 30 minutes ( Read more... )
