Don't do that, he's not better or worse then you, just a different person. Someone that can probably relate to her local situation better and share her interests now that they are almost all offline.

I saw this as part of a fluke, so I wanted to throw this out: You're being mature about it, but mature doesn't make hurting go away. Yeah, that's cliche, so I'll try and say something not cliche.

You're being honest with yourself, which is good and respectable. I know a lot of people who lie to themselves about their feelings to try and avoid pain. You're opening the wound to draw out the poison, and that's admirable; that's how I try to live, too.
