in BBC America-land, apparently, one character cannot say of another that he's "taking it up the arse."

I've already seen the series so I'm not watching on BBC-A. Are they cutting it? If so, I'm not surprised.

That was the only really noticeable cut to my half-observant eyes. The "moon shot" might have been sped up a tad. They're filling an hour-and-a-quarter time slot to allow for commercials, so I doubt there'll be too much excised.

I think I'm only watching it again in an effort to desensitize myself. Or... something.

In BBC Canada, it's all there . . . am enjoying the uncensoredness of it all . . .

I tell ya, those Canadians know no shame. You be careful up there *vbg*

I'm just grateful BBC-Am didn't see fit to add subtitles; they did with LoM, and it was hideous to behold. Even more grateful for the "sources" that allow me untainted, uncut, original broadcast versions :D

huh--I watched LoM on BBCAm and I didn't see any subtitles--which is perfectly fine because I speak Brit. They did have a funny ad with subtitles, something to the tune of--If you can't read this, you're watching BBCAmerica.

I haven't finished watching CoE number five yet--so I was so glad you sent the downloads, I knew there was no way with my life I'd be able to watch straight through in five days.

LoM: it was funny, because they didn't do it when they first aired it, though there was some real clumsy editing of random scenes (which were probably only noticeable because I started to dl it the day I saw the first ep air here). Recent reruns, though, were subtitled - I had my TV set to a different aspect ratio and managed cut half of it off ;-)

CoE: My kids had steadfastly refused to watch, but my daughter saw then last five mins of Pt1 last night and may have let herself be sucked in after all...

hey I've only seen it dubbed into French and my mind is boggling at how they would screw that one up!

(all puns intended)

As far as I could tell, that's the only line they've cut...and all kisses and hugs remained intact :-) It's not unusual for BBC America to hack a show to pieces so they can fit it plus four commercial breaks into a time slot, so by that standard they've been quite kind.

Can't wait to see what butchery they commit when airing "Being Human," though. (Have you seen that yet?)

I do plan on looking in on that!

"Being Human" is brilliant; daughter and I both hooked. Too bad it consists of just one 6-episode season so far (well, that plus a pilot ep with an almost wholly different cast...)

oh the things I never get to see (or are hidden behind such daft titles I don't know what they are). And the combinations on the various satellite options here would mean taking 3 of them for only about 2% of their entire offer!

Not to say making concessions for that strange prudery that prevails west of the pond!

PS 'scuse me ma'am but isn't that lastest icon bordering on the incestuous?!

I should do away with my cable TV entirely; I generally download from the www and/or buy the DVDs for what I like. Most of my 200-or-so TV channels are utter dross.

Actually, considering Jack's age, it almost qualifies as pedophilia ;-)

Bwa-hahahah! So if you're below a certain age (since how do we judge how old Capt. Jack is?) the only one who doesn't qualify as pedophilia the Doctor!

Sniff--now you've got me thinking of Ianto, and I plan to watch number five tonight.

Even in his current incarnation, Jack's old enough to have always been in Alice's life (if peripherally), and Alice is older than Ianto, so... Cradle robber at best, is ol' Jack-o ;-)

hehe, it's mind boggling, though what wonders me is the fact that isn't it the US of A that has the world's largest porn industry? How can such an "innocent" phrase be so offensive then ;)

It's the whole "But will it play in Peoria" mentality of mainstream broadcast networks. Porn, of course, does play well there; they just pay extra for it ;-)

aha, if you pay for it, you can watch it 'cause it's there aplenty, you just aren't allowed to take it in your mouth...erm say it. How fascinating :D
