I think rarely in a person's life does she experience a Guiness Book of World Records moment. Yesterday, during my break at school, I encountered such a moment. I can't believe someone didn't comment on this yet. I'm not a big fan of camera phones, but that certainly sounds like a time when it would have been nice to have one.

I was going to write a post about this but I don't think too many people on my friendslist would care. But I saw Andrew WK last night. He played at this really small, shitty metal bar. I went with some friends and we all really stood out. I was assuming there would be other like-minded people who got the WK joke, but this was not the case. It was packed with teenagers in black hooded sweatshirts, and the smell of pot could be detected 20 feet from the entrance to the venue. The great thing was that AWK lets people get up onstage with him and sing lyrics, high-five and then stage dive. There was a swirling pit which I only got into once. I was standing there and then got kicked in the ear by this overly excited brazilian raver kid who kept trying to hang from the rafters of the ceiling. Some of my friends got really into it and got up onstage with AWK and stage-dived their hearts out. One of them was onstage, high-fived Andrew and then jumped backwards into the pit. I had a similar experience when I went to see Andrew W.K. For awhile, I was obsessed - but it quickly fizzled, unfortunately. I used to read his website all the time. I love his W.K.isms and fables. Especially the story about the old woman feeding the cats. He's one of the few people that seems genuinely happy to be wherever he's at.
