So he is busy in there, shirtless and wearing a pair of ripped-up jeans, working on shading one of the mechs he'd painted there (for those who know mechs, the one in particular is an Ebon Jaguar [also known as a Cauldron Born]; for those who really know mechs

It has been a while since Harley has been to his apartment, with good reason to. But the time has come for a little talk. Besides, Caleb was still her close friend. She wanted to make sure he was okay.

So even though she could sneak into the house, she will knock at the door. Politely.

Oh dear. See, that's with the problem with opened doors - people feel that it's okay for them to just to come in, and then seeing when the owner is hard at work and tuning everything out, feel the need to sneak up on them and whisper 'boo.'

Well, Selene's really not that bad - she had been somewhat surprised to see the open door, carrying a heavy (for her) package of chain mail for Caleb. Puck is resting on her shoulder, and both crane their heads to spy Caleb engrossed with his painting to notice the two of them. With a hint of a mischievous smile, Selene quietly sets the package on the nearest flat platform, then quietly approaches Caleb, until she's practically right behind him, and brings her hands together in a loud CLAP.

Okay, maybe she is really that bad.

[Hokay. So, because it makes the mun's life significantly easier if it is done this way, and because the mun HATES THMNYing things, Selene has managed to get in before Harley.]

Caleb, if he were not busy reacting, would be wondering why Puck is not telling her that this is, in fact, a very bad idea. A very, very bad idea.

The moment the CLAP sounds, Caleb - in a manner very similar to that of a large predatory animal - drops the paintbrush, spins around, and LEAPS at Selene with what sounds almost like a roar.

Thankfully, there is a bed behind her to break her fall. But there's still a Caleb leaping onto her, looking - until he realizes who it is - very shocked, surprised, and angry.

Puck believes very, very firmly in the learning experience. Such learning experience might be "Never sneak up on anyone with ninja-like reflexes unless you have such reflexes in return or if you really want to die."

Nevertheless, he lets out a squawk of alarm and flaps off Selene's shoulder in a panic.

And Selene is left pinned underneath Caleb, staring up at him with fear, apprehension, and confusion - she's never seen Caleb like this, and it scares her.

And Harley hearing noise inside the apartment pushes open the door to make sure Caleb is okay...

and sees Caleb on top of Selene.

She just chuckles, leans against the wall, then asks "I am not inturrupting anything, am I?"

[harley_is_love]

"Selene... listen to me and calm down before I have to slap you. If you are afraid because you do not know him, then get to know him."

"Me? I know there is a bond here. You have been having troubles with those mercanaries in the forest and those men trying to hurt you? Caleb will be there to protect you. He will be there."

"Besides, sometimes love has nothing to do with what you know about a person but what you feel. I know I have fallen in love with someone I hardly know..."

"But it doesn't matter. His happiness is all that matters. And since I care about both you and Caleb, even though I hardly know both of you... your happiness is all that matter."

"Now... don't you think that Caleb could help protect you? Do you not see that he is a good person to get to know?"

[selene_bhaal]

However, Selene shakes her head. "I... I... I don't know... It-it's just that we're so different a-and we've just met... I don't know... I just don't know..."

"I-I'm sorry..."

With that, Selene bolts from the room and apartment.

Caleb's DEATH GLARE™ is still leveled at Harley. And he finally speaks.

"Get out of my house. Now. And do not come back." He's visibly -shaking- with fury, and it's taking a lot of his willpower not to get up and take a swing at her.

"It is better that you hate me Caleb..." Harley said softly as she moved towards the door.

"I will not bother you again. Ever." With that she turns and leaves. Looking for Selene in the hall as she does.

[selene_bhaal]

There is, in fact, still hope! But Puck remains silent about it for now.

And he continues to do so, assuming Caleb is asking a rhetorical question - sometimes he doesn't understand the working mind of the non-scaled folk.

It is not a rhetorical question, judging by the way Caleb is GLARE OF DEATH™-ing at Puck.

"Well?" he hisses.

[selene_bhaal]

Puck shrugs. "I'm afraid that the only one who can answer that question would be lady Harley herself, not I."

[truebornbanacek]

"I know, but god damnit, I want an explanation for this. And damnit, I wish Selene had not run off. I could at least try to do something about the damage done here."

Anger is starting to descend into sadness, though the metaphorical fires in his eyes are still burning.
