A twenty-second birthday party! (ahaha get it it's a pun) (OPEN)

Dec 05, 2007 15:53

Caleb has managed to commander a particularly large sideroom in the Nexus, and has also managed to send messages to a variety of people (basically everyone on his friends list, and whoever else, really) that says "HEY GUYS I'M HAVING A PARTY OR SOMETHING, COME HERE", except in far, far more tasteful words ( Read more... )

Soma got the message. He quickly sent an e-mail to Mina and Arikado to explain where he was heading off to before he goes to find a quick, but hopefully good gift for his friend.

"Hello there," Caleb says, looking up and smiling. Honestly, part of him expected nobody but Yuuko and maybe Selene to show up. "I apologize - it is really not much of a party right now, though I do expect more people to show up. Maybe." A slight frown at that.

"Parties," he adds, "are not exactly my strong suit - it was Yuuko's suggestion."

"It's okay." The young man answered as he set a blue box with a green ribbon on a table. "And hey, why wouldn't I show up? You did invite me after all." Soma smiled.

"Well, yes. I just... well, my knowledge of parties is weak at best, and people generally are up to other, more important things in the Nexus." Soma's gift gets a strange look, as if to say 'why?' Gifts are weiiird.

Motivated perhaps by a vague sense of pity, or the fear that no-one else would be coming, Otto arrives at the party around the appointed time, with a book-shaped gift for Caleb.

"Otto, hello!" Caleb says, grinning just a little bit. Otto does not strike him as the partying type *at all*, and seeing him at a party is... well, wow.

He does notice the gift, and looks at it a bit confusedly. Why are people considering bringing gifts? He just wants to hang out and be with his friends. And alcohol.

Otto smiles, just a bit. "Good evening, Caleb. I didn't know that they celebrated birthdays in your society, but I suppose you don't necessarily need an excuse for a get-together." He hands over the package, which is wrapped in tape and white printer paper. "Happy Birthday."

"They do not, generally, but it seemed like a good reason for people to get together in a slightly more organized fashion than 'whoever happens to be in the Sanctuary'." Caleb smiles and puts the gift down next to the one Soma got him. "Thank you, Otto."

Selene's there at his apartment as soon as she gets the message! What kind of girlfriend would she be if she wasn't there to celebrates Caleb's most important day, even if he doesn't really view it as such? She pokes her head shyly within once she reaches the room, not really sure if she's arrived at the right one. "H-hello?"

"Selene!" This will call for Caleb actually getting up and wrapping his arms around Selene - no kissing, at least not yet, but a definite firm hug. She needs no other introduction or apology, damnit!

Selene blushes, but rises to her tiptoes, taking this opportunity to whisper in Caleb's ear "I... have a present for you later." She immediately turns beet red when she finishes and is unable to look Caleb in the eyes, instead studying the wall intently.

Whatever this present is, it's something Caleb's going to find out later. Selene, for some reason, is reluctant to reveal anymore!

Caleb has no idea what kind of present this might be, so he's a bit confused as to why Selene is flushing a lot. This results in a confused, polite smile and a kiss to her cheek.

"Mmm... you know you did not have to, yes?" he whispers back. Part of him says 'seriously, you should go mingle with other people too', but, well, Selene.

Yuuko is so totally on with this partying thing, it is amazing.

In the meantime, she went out to buy him some fabulous (read: retarded) party hats, and will not stop until he agrees to wear one. She will now try the "BUT IT'S TRADITION" argument.

"The hat looks dumb," Caleb replies flatly, though he is pleased as punch to see Yuuko here. "I am not putting it on."

Someone? Soma? Otto? Selene? Plz halp :(

"It is pretty and perfectly suited for a birthday-boy."

She'll go B| at anyone who will defy her.

Ock gives Yuuko a vaguely suspicious look, but he doesn't intervene on Caleb's behalf. Sorry, Caleb.

Someone was ambushed by Yuuko at the door, it seems, and already is tugging at her doofy party hat, as if it were some form of strange alien life trying to eat her hair.

What the hell is this thing.

Amelia has a box in her hands. It's not wrapped or anything, so the fact that it's a box of chocolates should be fairly obvious. Considering the usual lack of ceremony related to birthdays in Clan Star Adder, the reasoning behind this is not immediately clear.

However. She is here, at her sibkin's birthday party, because it would be rude not to be, quiaff?

Tada! One Amelia, fit for huggings and flailings, as ever.

Caleb (to this point in time) has avoided managing to get a party hat on him. Upon Amelia showing up, though, Caleb takes the box from her, sets it down, and then wraps his arms around her in a familiar hug.

"You do realize this is as much a celebration of your 'birth' as it is of mine," he says, grinning. They do share a birthday!

The hug is returned, with interest! Yay, hugs. It's nice to, once again, be reminded that he's not actually dead, or captured, or worse.

Sometimes Amelia just has to turn to look at him for a second, to make sure.

"But it is a party for you," she says, which is a really dumb thing to say, but nonetheless, the thought of receiving a celebration of her own never crossed her mind.

One could make the argument that the Nexus has 'captured' him, but that is neither here nor there - he is indeed, existing, and taking his time with pulling away. (Part of him suspects Selene will not approve.)

"...and your point is? Why can it not be a celebration for you too?" This is a look of honest confusion, which - well, in the Homeworlds, was an unusual look for him. Here, it's fairly frequent.
