dude, are you reading that book?! i'm asking because i totally just read it a few weeks ago and i was wondering if that was a real installation or not. and then i was really sad that i never got to see it.

i am not reading that book - i found that passage while looking for copies of kusama's out of print (i think) novels on amazon. how odd that you actually read it and then i posted about it...? anyway yes it was totally a real installation but honestly i didn't think it was that great - i've seen many things by her that i liked a lot more.

the Kusama "fireflies" piece was in the 2004 biennial, so was the Zak Smith piece.
