A few days ago I heard a lecturer reference the critic and philosopher Homi Bhabha, whom I had never heard of before; later that day I read an essay that happened to cite Homi Bhabha. Recently my friend posted something online about the artist Guillermo Gómez-Peña, and yesterday I was reading an essay that turned out to be by Guillermo Gómez-Peña. ( Read more... )

That German one is so weird - I mean, this stuff is always weird, but that one is kinda extreme. Do you like Dhalgren? It's been on my to-read list for a while.

Anyway I like the word "serendipity" because I like the idea that when I witness these coincidences it's like I'm discovering some other, cosmic truth, you know?

yeah. i totally know what you mean. I was actually thinking I should have mentioned more about how great a word that is (serendipty) in my last post.

I recently discovered the word "apophenia." Its maybe the opposite of serendipity? Or i guess the two can coexist peacefully...anyways I identify strongly with both :D
