Over the years I've amassed a number of fandoms I will read and write in but I sort of cycle through them... I started out way back when with The Sentinel and various Anime, now I primarily enjoy Supernatural/J2, NCIS LA, White Collar, NCIS and I'll read stories in other fandoms by authors I like... that's sort of how I get sucked into Person of Interest. one of the authors I liked did a crossover... I also still dabble in Emergency! SG-1 and In Plain Sight. I live in rural western PA and have almost no social life so I have to keep sane somehow...
I also got into this because of lack of social life. I always thought I was a one fandom at a time girl. That I would never love anyone like J2, but I'm growing a little. Who knows what is next.
Although whatever is next it will probably contain magic and supernatural things.
Hmmm, well I started out in fandom and specifically fanfiction with anime and manga, but I haven't read any of those in about five years I'd say... moved on to Harry Potter which was about 85% of my reading till SPN came along, as well as about 95% of my writing which was still exclusively in German at that time. I'll still read the occasional Potter but only if I see a rec that catches my eye by chance or so. Once SPN got on my radar I started reading very extensively to tide myself over the writer's strike hiatus which is where I ended up getting stalled after catching up on the first two seasons, that summer I also started writing SPN/J2 this time exclusively in English which has stayed my writing language in any fandom I've posted in henceforth. I also have never been an actual fan of anything (complete with extensive reading, ficcing, meta, conventions, swooning, gossip and an all around case of the crazies) other than SPN, but i have a few fandoms I cross over into to read, for example I spend an entire two weeks one summer to
( ... )
Well, my love for fic is a many splendoured thing, LOL. There's an extensive and regularly updated rec-list over at merlinxarthur lj com (I always forget who does it but you should be able to find it in the tags), my good friend nrrrdy_grrrl just published one as part of her reader's choice rec project and there's the original first merlin bigbang that is hosted on a separate website, I don't know how much of that has migrated into other ficplaces yet so you might wanna check that out: http://boxofmagic.talkoncorners.net/index.php
Oh, and have I mentioned that last year, I kind of lived at a college in rural Georgia out there in the woods where they kinda film Teen Wolf? And that I kinda met Mama Argent in town (well, she walked out of a restaurant as I was walking in and I gave myself whiplash going *gaduh*? but I'm pretty sure I'd recognize that redhead anywhere?) Oh and if you're thinking about getting into H5O fandom, really don't go watch the show (at least not past season one) just read all the fandom stuff. This is one where the fic-writing is way WAY better than the show writing.
Beware. If you watch Teen Wolf you will be sucked down the rabbit hole and be drawn into a strange place. I never thought I would go back to high school, but here I am.
I was almost exclusively SPN fandom for years. I wrote in that fandom till a few years ago when the show changed the dynamic between Sam/Dean enough that I couldn't write anything decent and even lost my J2 muse then as well. It is still my favorite fandom to read and I'm always finding new authors, such as yourself, to love. I enjoy fic in H5O, SOA, and the occasional Leverage fic. That fandom never really did it for me, but I do enjoy a h/c Eliot based fic.
I'm shocked that there is so much a H5O fandom. I haven't even seen the show. It needs to come to my Netflix. I loved Leverage, but never read it. I'm glad that you are reading. Make sure you catch my Big Bang!!
back in the day, I actually wrote SG-1 fiction but never online, thought I was the only one. haha. then I found LOTR primarily Orli and Elijah and followed an author (Arabia) to SPN and have never stopped reading spn. though occasionally I have strayed to SOA crossovers or an occasional torchwood. My writing is limited to commenting and original fiction which I don't post online.
Well I'm glad you are in SPN (even though I'm only one foot in it these days). I think commenters are the best, that is a mad skill in itself. I LOVE the readers. Snarky and happy to see the words I've strung together. I'm always scared to stray, but sometimes there are authors who are just that good.
