Try listening to the Byrd's cover of "Mr. Tambouine Man" while watching the sun set over Mission Bay in San Diego, particularly if your brain is struggling to incorporate a few extra chemicals.

Sunset on the water is such a West Coast thing that that's how Sunset Magazine got its name, though I imagine you get some stunners in West Florida.

Best one ever for me: standing on the sand spit at Cape Flattery at the tip of Washington's Olympic Peninsula and watching the the spectrum downshift over weather-worn, rocky headlands in a 180 degree view north, west, and south. Purple clouds, vermillion water.

P.S.: I'm seeing a possible personal ad for you..."loves navigating boats by starlight, long walks on a beach at sunset, and peeing in the ocean...." I guarantee you'll get some kind of response.

I will say that having seen the leaves change for the first time ever this year was a very eye-opening experience. It was a pretty dark and cold winter, metaphorically speaking, but spring arriving and the arrival of our new little guy has given spring a particularly joyful meaning for me... so sacrificing the water for a change of seasons has been worth it for me.

But it's important to focus on what makes us happy and run with it, eh?
