why librarians are awesome

Today my professor said that librarians should aspire to be like Jean-Luc Picard. Or something like that. It made me happy.

of course everyone should aspire to be like Jean-Luc Picard. any particular reason for librarians? is it the charisma?

I think it is more of his response to moral dilemmas. For example, librarians could be asked to find information for a patron on a topic we find morally wrong, but our "prime directive" is to provide access to information, so...

I'd also like to think it is because Picard is just awesome.
