Seriously considering attending Costume College

Mar 11, 2013 11:55

So, I've settled in. Officially. There are very few post-move things to manage at this point. We have dentists, doctors, tutors, babysitters, gaming folks, vets, first-name basis with the postman, haircut people, friends for Zach AND a decent line on summer activities for him. We are about to have or first swanky party tonight (I have to go back to ( Read more... )

I was going to write that I really don't have people who would do that for me, and then Agnes writes and volunteers, and I felt suddenly very sheepish. My problem is that I am wildly uncomfortable asking for help, and that I always assume that people won't want to help me. Need to maybe look at that.

I'm with Tim in that I think you should go and take classes this year. Make some friends. Network with people, and just get the general 'feel' of how the event runs itself. That way you are that much more prepared next year to know what kind of 'stuff' to bring and how to display it and who to go to for help and information.

You could also bring a sampling of your hats to show people your work and give them an example of what you do and display your ultra high quality work (and maybe sell one or two along the way :-)).

And HAVE SOME FUN! :-)

Just my own humble opinion. :-)

A.

And your opinion is exactly what I asked for :)

My gut says that the booth would be too much this time around. That just leaves whether I think I should go without the booth as an excuse, I mean anchor. No, I mean excuse. :)

I was in town for my job and went to shop two years ago. It was kind of like 12 th Night merchanting. All the booths were smaller than normal and they were in one room. It would be very easy to have another merchant watch your booth. The stuff for sale was quality, not junk or bulk supplies.

I'd be worried having strangers coming to my hotel room to shop. I'm paranoid but it doesn't sound safe. You dont want to get robbed or burgled. You don't want to end up in a water tank or a victim of the sex trafficking trade. Perhaps I've attended to many training lectures at work.

I can't really see the shopping in the hotel room thing happening. My thought is that nobody would come, and I'd have shipped hats there for nothing. I could Deliver hats there, if I had orders, but that's about all.

I just need to decide if I should do that, or try to somehow get into the faire circuit around here somehow. If I'm really looking for a convenient outlet, it seems that I should look closer to home.

Sweet lady- I am so moved that you would offer to help. I feel like such an island, sometimes. Thank you. :)
