Um, h-hey ...

... How much does everyone think the Malnosso changed us? I mean, I know we're filial now, but there should still be some things they can't mess with, right? I'm sorry for the weird question, but I'm ... I-I guess a little confused right now by something.

[Not hacking.]

I would think the Malnosso can and would tamper with whatever they liked to achieve their goals. Might I ask what the something is that confuses you?

Well, I ... I usually have to take this special kind of ... I guess you could call it a medication. Anyway, I have to take that every three months or else I'll ... well, I'll die.

But it's been over three months, and I haven't taken it. It's not even available here! S-So, I guess I'm confused as to whether the Malnosso made it so I didn't need it anymore, or whether the time span between each dosage was just lengthened. There's only one real way to find out, but that'd mean ...

I can hardly claim to be an expert on the subject, but I would think there are a number of likely explanations: your body has been altered so that you no longer need the medication, or produce it naturally on your own, for example. Or perhaps you have been given the medication without being made aware of it, either through something you consume or use on a regular basis, or while you were asleep. It's even possible you were not asleep, but the memory of having the medication administered has been removed. It may not even be the Malnosso who are causing it, but the unknown forces who lurk above them

While I cannot empathize enough with your situation to tell you not to worry, logically it makes no sense for the Malnosso or their overlords to deny you something which you need to survive. As I understand it, even in situations where people die and return sometime afterward, the cause of death is rarely the fault of the Malnosso. I can't imagine they would make you an exception.

Yeah ... Yeah, you're right. It doesn't make it any less creepy, but I'm probably worrying a little too much about all this. I mean, I didn't even think of them maybe giving me the life-extending agent in my sleep or anything, even though that'd definitely wake me up, so I guess there are more reasons for this happening than I thought there were.

Oh, uhm, I'm Luca. Luca Trulyworth. Who are you?

We have no proof we're even our original selves. We could be gholas they created. Frankly, we don't know.

I have personal proof that we are at least built from the same genetic code though.

"Gholas"? O-Oh, really? How'd you find that out?

leto would have something to say about the life extension but there's no computers in duniverse! goldenpathredux July 25 2009, 22:28:51 UTC
A Ghola is a clone of a dead person that is capable of remembering their former life.

Ancestral memory. An ability from my home universe.

A clone ...? Y-You don't think we're ... already dead, do you?

Degenerating vectors eventually fragment. Fragmentation will erase the whole of the equation; making it complex. Ergo, the binomial is terminated.

QED.

You're finished.

Luca...? Why're you worrying about something like that?

I ... think they did something to me. N-No, they definitely did something to me.

Is that "did something" a good or bad something?

It's a good thing, but it's just ... unnatural.
