A dark mirror. Imagine that you woke in the night and rose, and seemed to see before you another person whom slowly you perceived to be yourself. Someone had entered in the night and placed a mirror in your sleeping place, made from a black metal. You had been frightened only of your reflection. But then the reflection slowly raised one hand, while your own hand stayed still. . .
The Corinthian is a nightmare! He's one of the major arcana of the Dreaming, and as Morpheus puts it above, he was designed to be humanity's dark mirror. He's a creature of Dream and was designed to scar the minds of humanity, reflect back all their dark bits and so forth and so on.
HE GOT SOME PINGS and he gives some pings as well.
• to normal people he probably pings as a normal person! He's an accomplished serial killer after all, and serial killers have that tendency to not proclaim very loudly I AM A SERIAL KILLER, it just doesn't work very well that way.
• to psychics? Yeah, he probably has some really fucking scary vibes, but they're familiar vibes. They're like that time something about yourself scared you really badly, or that time you were really afraid of other people, or that time you looked at the news and felt sick to your stomach. Familiar, tempting, oh so tempting darkness.
• people who can see souls/the truth of things/idk what else . . . very similar to psychics! But maybe you see some craving too, hunger.
• people with dream pings! Yeah, he's a nightmare. Also he has a very very very strong connection to the American Dream particularly, as well as people who reach for things endlessly, consumption, obsessions, collectors -- hilariously, fandom-like. Dreams of reach to a detriment, I suppose.
• SERIAL KILLER PINGS. Uh, mainly this is for people who are serial killers -- or I guess people In The Know. The Corinthian's pretty well known (though he does have a few dozen names that he's been know by, including hilarious things like dark angel and the eye guy). They're -- well, American serial killers I guess -- are also sort of like. "His people." THE EASIEST COMPARISON IS THINKING YOU ARE ALONE IN THE WORLD OF OTAKU, AND THEN GOING TO AN ANIME CON AND REALIZING THESE PEOPLE WERE YOUR PEOPLE yeah like that.
He likes them. Dream says he has inspired and infected them with his darkness. He has connections with them! He knows when The Bogeyman is dead -- and while it could either imply that he killed him. . . I don't think so. The Corinthian is a nightmare, he can be in the little darknesses in the back of people's minds, their bad motivations, the pleasure in being destructive, the awfulnesses of humanity. He's that dream.
