I've heard good things about using printable coupons to cut one's grocery bill, but apparently it only works as a saving strategy in households where pre-made convenience foods, scent masking products, and extremely branded cereals are the areas where the grocery budget is being bled dry. There are a couple of things I insist on buying brand-name, just because the store brand tends to have such poor quality - the one that comes to mind right now is Cheerios. In my experience, the air-puffed crap the stores try to pass off as Cheerios are horrific and have all the flavor (and nutrition, no doubt) of cardboard. I've never had that issue with any other kind of cereal, although I don't eat cereal nearly as much now as I did as a kid.

Cheerios are a-ok in my book - I'm thinking more along the lines of stuff with crazy marshmallows and candy flavorings! I will say we buy Joe's Os from Trader Joe's and they're quite good.

Trader Joe's always seemed expensive to me. Maybe because the last time I went there I happened to need sugar, and all they had was Overpriced Organic Raw Sugar, which I wasn't really sure would be right for baking.

The odd thing is that they're owned by some Russian sleazy discount grocery chain or something.
