Say what you need to say

He looks at her and the way she smiles and laughs and is so ready to go on another adventure with him and all he can think about is how wrong it is. Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.

He knows she shouldn't be smiling, or laughing, or ready to dive headlong into trouble and danger with him. She should be mourning a terrible loss, one that is once again, his fault. Oh, he hadn't forced Rory to shove him out of the way of the weapon discharge and take the hit for him, but Rory had done it for him and that, quite frankly, felt worse than the alternative.

She should be crying and screaming and hitting him like she had before, but she isn't, because she's forgotten.

As if dying for him wasn't bad enough, Rory had been eaten out of existence by the crack in time and space. Rory now was never born at all and all memories of him in Amy's life have been erased, but he can see they haven't been ripped out of her heart. Sometimes he'll glance at Amy and notice her wiping at the corner of her eyes. She offers no explanation and he never asks.

Rory is dead, gone from the very existence of life and Amy doesn't remember him, but he does. He remembers Rory; good, sensible, determined Rory Williams, who would do anything for Amy including taking a bullet for her Raggedy Doctor. He wonders if only Rory could see how much Amy's heart misses him, even if her mind can no longer picture his eyes, or his face, or the sound of his voice.

But he remembers and as long as he does, then Rory isn't completely forgotten and the memory of him still lives.
