"Doctor, what's happened?"

He knows it's bad. Of all the outcomes he could possibly think up in the seconds it takes him to reply to Amy's question, this was the worst.

"The safest spot available, the TARDIS has materialized inside herself."

He already knows what this means as he descends the stairs and Rory asks, "Is that supposed to happen?"

He knows Rory isn't stupid enough to ask that question, but indulges him as he nears the outer shell of the TARDIS, "Take a guess."

"No?"

"That's the one."

After proclaiming he has absolutely no idea what he's doing, he opens the door and steps inside, only to appear less than a second later by the inside doors of the TARDIS. He already knew that was going to happen and he knows what's going to happen when he puts his arm back past the inner doors and Amy and Rory see his hand waving from the outer doors.

At Rory's comment about how cool that was, he steps back through the TARDIS and appears next to her outer shell. He huffs with irritation and retorts that now that they're stuck at least Rory won't be bored.

Because they are. With the TARDIS now situated inside herself, they are quite literally stuck for all eternity with no way out of the sentient time ship. No matter how many times they attempt to walk out of her, they will always end up straight back inside. An endless cycle, an unbreakable time and space loop that will forever hold them inside the TARDIS where they can't get out and nothing can get in.

And then another version of Amy Pond walks through the inner doors of the TARDIS as if to contradict him.

"Okay kids, this is where it gets complicated."
