My Top 25 Films of 2009

Ok, so it took me a long time to write this, the last 3 months in fact but with Oscar season finally having drawn to a close, I felt if I was ever going to post this, now would be the time. Of the films released in 2009, I finished having seen 102 of them and these were my favorites.

@Akari
I agree, as I said when Hikki was editing it, I felt my entry for An Education of my Top 10 was my weakest. Rosamund Pike's character sort of almost began to us a ditzy bitch making Jenny feel unwelcome, by the end it was hard not to love her, she might not be the brightest, but she wasn't as fake as she appeared, she was genuine and very kind, if almost still as naive as Jenny was early on. I loved Dominic Cooper throughout too, he was the only one in the circle honestly worried for Jenny.

First of all, Congrats on getting your list posted!
Obviously you put a ton of work into it, look how big the damn thing is!
Your top 10 is pretty close to mine, except you have a couple I haven't been fortunate to see yet. I echo Vinnie's thoughts on happiness seeing Brothers Bloom make it in. (And fairly high up as well!) Very nice summaries for the ones you chose, I particularly like those for Up, Moon and Inglourious Basterds.
It's a nicely written list and it's very attractive too.
Nice picture choice/format.

Great work!

Mad props on your list, Nicky. I always love to hear your takes on films, since while I enjoy the art, you've proven again and again to be very intuitive in your critiques of the various genres, the filmmakers, the cast, and the films as a whole, as well as how they are likely to affect their audiences. Reading your opinions always makes me wish I knew as much about film as you do, in order to appreciate it more fully. I'm actually considering going into film studies now, partly thanks to you, and in the meantime, there are a bunch of films on your list that I'm dying to see, and lamenting the fact that I missed in theatres.
