“To tell you the truth I thought he was breaking up with me,” Jordan said rearranging the flatware in front of her. “I worked a double Christmas Eve. Woody was going to come pick me up after Mass and we were going to spend Christmas Day watching basketball and well, enjoying an actual 24 hours when clothing was an option,” she grinned.
“Anyway, he called an hour early and asked for me to meet him on the roof.”
Jordan frowned. Up to that point, the roof was were they went when they didn’t want to be overheard. And nine time out of ten it wasn’t a warm fuzzy conversation.
“He’d been acting strange all week. I walked up there half expecting to be calling to the carpet about something legally questionable.
