That would indeed be a rather sweet gift. But I think Mycroft's realization of Mary's past has blinded him to the possibility of a positive outcome. Yes, Mary is dangerous. But all the most interesting people are! (Mycroft, for example, whom Sherlock described as the most dangerous man John had ever met. )
