A brief moment of vanity

So, I really hate to say this, but I'm going to.

I'm awesome.

Before you start in with your throes of: "No you're not, dude, don't lie!" let me tell you why.

It's because when I have good hair days, I have really good hair days.  I thought that today was going to be a complete wash because the heat index is 105 and it's super-humid out.  I didn't have ( Read more... )

Yes, I've heard of A/C, but I've also heard of cheap power bills.

OMG! I'm sorry, I'm going to be extremely blunt and just say it ... that's just insane! Not to mention dangerous! It's been just as hot here and I can't imagine going without the air conditioning.

We live in an old house with three window units and our bill in the summer is usually just short of $100 when it's not too hot and just slightly more when it's really hot and we have to run them on high. If you have central air and keep it set to about 75 or so you can be comfortable without running your bill up.

Lol, it is crazy, isn't it? But, I live in an efficiency apartment that has sun exposure on three sides, aaaaaand I have a tin roof, and I'm on the top floor, so in order to keep it around even 75, I have to run it all the time. I ran it the first summer I lived here for four days straight and it barely cooled off... It's just that hot. So, I make do with a few box fans in my windows and heavy drapes to keep out the sun ... sometimes it works, sometimes I hang out in my underwear. =)

OMG! Well do be careful. I'd hate to log in to LJ one day to hear that you baked like a chicken in your apartment :P

And for what it's worth, oscillating fans like this one (which we have except in black) work way better than box fans at keeping the air cool and circulated.
