TrustFlow for LiveJournal

Frequently asked questions

What do the results mean?
TrustFlow is making a guess at who is "near" your friends list; who might be on it, but isn't. It does this by looking at your friends list, and the friends list of your friends, and so on.

Is this based on who reads my journal, or interests, or what?
No. ( Read more... )

So, basically, these are friends of my friends . . . but I just don't understand "Close to me". If it's not based on any of my personal information then what is it based on? How "popular" these people are within my friends LJ? - i.e. how many times they are mentioned, tagged, or respond to enteries?

As far as I can tell, friends of your friends that appear to be physically close to you in space based on the location in their user info.

No, physical closeness is nothing to do with it.

After running the metric, I looked over the results and realised there were a few people who should ALREADY have been on my friends list. Also, a few more that shared a lot of common interests with me that I decided to friend & follow their journals for a while to see if we are a match.

Unfortunately, there seems to be no way to cause the metric to be recalculated based on the revised friend's list.

i have a query about my results;

# jimjamthehuman (350 - 400)
# mandraked, metalmikey666 (400 - 450)
# challenged, hannah_honey (450 - 500)
# geesuv (500 - 550)

first three are fine, i know them or have known them previously and we have several shared friends, but i've only one friend in common with challenged and hannah_honey. things seem fine after that though, with 9 friends in common with geesuv. is there some rational i'm missing for this result?

very cool concept, almost like a spatial regression are there any weights applied to users as the link becomes more tenuous? You might answer a lot of questions if you gave a chart of the score scale..

Can you explain what the numerical values attached to a particular group mean? How does that measure "distance"? It seems completely arbitrary and confusing.
