Silly Season

I remember during the primaries, Barack Obama threw out a known political phrase about the campaigns heading into "silly season." If that was silly season, the last week has been more like a terrifying season. I'm an independent, so I can say this without getting my head chopped off from either side (hopefully) - The Republican side is known for this. It's just they way they've always campaigned.

I know that this is also comparable to the whole "scorpian/"It's just my nature to kill you, you fucking frog," which doesn't make it any better, but are you seriously suprised?

Other than that - how are you doing?

I guess I am a little surprised. I think I had at least a little hope that this election wouldn't devolve into this kind of thing. And given everything that's been going back and forth for the last few months, I would still say that it was a relatively normal / semi-clean campaign until these latest developments. This last week, however, might be the dirtiest campaigning I've ever seen, and I think McCain knows it, which is why he's starting to try to reign people in at rallies now.

Other than that, I'm doing well. How about yourself?
