Of course not.

Being rich and famous does, though.

Well obviously being an artist negates any sort of crime. I mean, she was there, she must have known what she was getting into, she probably came on to him, she was probably mature for her age, she could have said no, it happened a long time ago.

FUCK. THIS. SHIT. I'm more angry than usual about this.

She DID say no. This entire situation is so incredibly repulsive...

I'm also really mad that none of the feminist orgs have stepped up and said "Hey, he raped a child, he deserves to be punished." I'm disappointed with so many people on so many levels.

I was just repeating all the crappy excuses I've heard, with a huge load of sarcasm -- sorry if it wasn't obvious!

Roman Polanski is scum. Plain and simple..

No, the most bullshit excuse I've heard is that his arrest violates the sanctity of the Zurich Film Festival.

I actually read her testimony, just to be sure I wasn't missing something, SOMETHING, that would explain why people are defending him.

Nope.

Also, Woody Allen? Hardly a surprise there.

Woody Allen, to be fair, married Soon-Yi when she was an adult. That at least puts him at a higher moral level than Polanski.

The victim in the Polanski case has talked about dropping the charges, but only because she's tired of her rape being world news and an international incident. That's the closest thing I've heard of to a legitimate excuse for not throwing his ass in jail.

I agree. I love Rosemary's Baby, and The Ninth Gate. And I will still watch movies from all the people on this list, but my respect for them all has dropped a little.
