If you want an honest answer- both. I don't like killing, and I'll never be able to agree that it's an acceptable end to a fight. But I know it's pointless to tell people they shouldn't kill or expect anyone to listen to me if they've already made that choice.

Talk to someone who's been in the Drafts. Normally I base my fighting style around capture only. If I can't capture a foe and have to resort to killing, that's my weakness. But the Third Party won't be reasoned with, can't be taken capture, and they'll pluck the wings of someone else in the village if left to go.
