[Around mid-morning in Luceti, there's a tired, blond alchemist limping through the forest, favouring the left leg and right arm a bit. Besides the limp, there is one more thing that's pretty obviously different- that being, Edward is a girl. She doesn't seem to be bothered by this fact, though, and is grumbling only about the state of her automail

And so Roy is just going to enjoy his chance to curl up under a tree for a nap, his journal lying open on the ground nearby. Just watch where you're stepping!]

...Oh. Hello, Mustang. Edward blinks in surprise, considering him for a moment. Should she wake him up? Leave him alone? Did he even know she was gone? She feels so out of the loop.
Well, maybe she can indulge a little- after the day she's had so far, she's earned it. So with a faint smile she heads over and sits down next to him, leaning against the tree trunk. It's as good a place as ever to ponder, and when he wakes up maybe she can get a few answers out of him, too.]

...which is why there is clearly nothing wrong with nuzzling her neck and snuggling closer, right? RIGHT?]

Okay she can't do this.]
C-colonel...!

Wait...
He recognizes that coat.
...no. Oh no.
Nonononono.
As the connection between the slightly off-sounding voice and the coat sets in, he recoils in ohshit!, now wide-eyed and fully awake. As for what's not right, that's overlooked in favor of pulling away as quickly as possible.]
F-FullMetal?!
[He's getting the distinct feeling that living this down might never happen.]

Th-that better have been an accident, colonel!
[Does he do that with his subordinates if they get too close to his desk? Good grief, how embarrassing.]

Somehow, "I thought you were a girl" doesn't seem like it'll cut it. Talk about embarrassing!
Think think think... A-ha! EVADE!]
You really shouldn't be sneaking up on people when they're sleeping...

No, no. Don't start getting your hopes up, Ed.]
I didn't sneak up on anyone! I just sat here to wait for you to wake up. You're the one who decided to get all cozy.

Wait, what?]
You were..? Why were you waiting for me to wake up?

And then sits up and opens her coat to show her chest.]
Does this look normal to you?

His gaze jumps from chest to face to chest back to face, searching for any sign that this was a joke. The face and features are softer, more delicate, more effeminate. What is very much there beneath the shirt is definitely not masculine. Not a joke, not a game.
...
And is it wrong that his first thought after taking everything in and processing it is "sorry, you're too young"? The words that finally find his voice aren't quite along that vein, though. The last thing he wants to do is offend hi-her.
Talk about weird.]
Perfectly normal.
[...for a lopsided thirteen year old girl. He's not entirely sure if the question was meant to be do they look normal on Edward though, which would have warranted a much different response.]

Well, she'd like to believe him. But the expression he's wearing and the delay between question and answer are awfully telling; she's getting the same response, more or less, as she'd gotten from Sokka, only back then she'd been unaware that there was even a problem.
Sighing quietly, she draws her knees back up, resting her chin on them and trying not to look sullen about it. Stupid Mustang. Stupid Luceti. Stupid everything.]
You're a liar, colonel.
