I am so guilty of this. I've ruined so many books by peeking at the last pages whenever the plot twists in a way that I don't agree with. I've cured myself of this filthy habit by reading the last and only the last line instead so I get the satisfaction of reading but not spoiling the end.
I have a horrible, horrible habit of doing that with the books that I get. I end up reading the last two or three pages to see what happens and then go back and read what leads up to it.
I think I have this strange fear of Oh my God, what if I never get a chance to finish it otherwise?!. :[ I'm only slightly insane, I swear.
It depends. If I don't completely understand what's going on, I read the end and that normally helps. And if I'm bored with reading it but I want to know what happens, then I do. If I have an idea about how it's going to end I never read the ending, because I normally end up finding out I was so completely wrong.
I've never really understood that desire, to read the last pages/last paragraph of books. When my sister first told me she liked to do that, I was completely baffled. The thought had never even crossed my mind. I mean, I love finding out things when the characters find out things. I like the whole... idk, "in the moment" feelings you get... and it's tainted for me if I know ahead of time. Not true for others, I know, but it just doesn't work for me.
For me, it depends on the book.. I like to read the last sentences of Terry Pratchett books. I have no idea why, because the last sentence never even says anything big, but I just like to do that. Otherwise, I never do that. Sometimes I want to, but afterwards I hate myself for spoiling it.
