Had to post this because I had a couple run-ins like this growing up. It's not something to be proud of, but there's a sense of recognition here that makes me feel good. I suppose it's kind of a reminder of where I have been and how far I have come.

Did you ever go through stuff like this growing up? I once got into a discussion with one of my exes about how, growing up where I grew up, you learned to watch out for people trying to test you. Did girls go through the same kind of stuff -- people trying to jump you and all that?

Though as a child, I didn't know (and more so discovered this since returning back to Chicago), but I was very suburban, and in retrospect I feel like my childhood experience was definitely storybook-esque in regards to community relationships with others ( ... )
