So it turns out that this solution to a problem that I've been working on is essentially identical to Wright's Fst. I guess if you're going to spend time replicating someone else's work, you could do worse than the guy who invented the field. I was going to suggest looking at a fourier transform function.... I miss all this kind of stuff. need a more interesting job pretty soon....
