Fiction, 2014 - Yuletide and more

Jan 01, 2015 12:41

Yuletide was wonderful - it's the first time this year I've really felt able to write, you know? Although I should mention to you that I have been unfairly shirking irradiant's J2, so that's next on the list. But...
In which I talk far too much about writing fiction rather than actually writing fiction. )

Wowser - making up for lost time or what? I don't know how you manage to write while reading so prolifically. And no doubt having a day job and a social life too.

I may join you in a lemsip to celebrate the ushering in of 2015!

...I'd write an awful lot more if I was reading less! :D

Also would not be writing to you if I had not sent myself home ill from work. There seems to be a positive epidemic of colds right now, although luckily rating only miserable on scale of illness - I hope your version is abating!

I actually dreamt I was telling myself I shouldn't go into work today - which is ironic because I haven't been in work for 7 years since I went self employed LOL. Yeah, this is the miserable type of cold that makes you feel like a human tap with a perished washer. Thank gawd for Sudafed nasal spray. If you haven't tried it - get some. It's fecking awesome, especially taken about 20 minutes before bedtime because you are guaranteed at least 4 hours with a clear nose and free breathing in order to get to sleep.

That Cruel Sea fic has been on my to-read list for the last week! Looking forward to it. Also can I quietly glee that when it comes to Andrew/Ralph (it happens to be my preferred shipping option for TC) I have personally enticed someone into writing me reams of really good fic for it? I keep promising her I'll write her some in return.

I picked up a bunch of the Ramage novels about a month ago from a second hand bookshop where in an excess of early Christmas spirit, the man behind the counter in appreciation of someone else enjoying them, knocked 40% off the price for me. Bonus AoS goodness!

Happy New Year to you as well.

It was a grand thing to write, that Cruel Sea fic and I'm awfully grateful for the prompt.

...but you're going to regret this.

I did end up shipping Andrew/Ralph. (naraht, on the writing? I've just and very gladly read her Incendiary series, both with absolute admiration (she is such a superb writer, there was no way in hell the series would be other than entirely believable) and a little relief, because naraht is so very good I was afraid there would be no space left for any alternative route to follow. That promise you keep making? If you're prepared to keep it this year, so there is more fiction, I would be happy to do so also...thus the manipulations of fandom. For next Christmas ( ... )

Rapidly running out of lemsip here too, for what it's worth.

Happy New Year and best wishes for 2015.

Oh, C, I am grimmacing in sympathy, and have a horrible feeling I might know the origin of your cold as well as mine. Not that it helps, I suspect we're both still squinting at the screen with tissues to hand.

- Happy New Year to you, as well. May it be kind.

I hope you don't mind me stopping by here to say "thank you" for your very kind words on my writing, both in this and your last post. I admire yours very much so it's a great compliment! And it's always great to encounter another fan of Ralph/Andrew. I would love to see your take on it someday - or just to discuss TC, if you decide you'd like to.

Happy New Year!

It's a pleasure, truly. In all honesty, I think we've written in so many adjacent fandoms it's a little odd to think we have never spoken before, and I cannot tell you how glad I was to know that you had written Ralph/Andrew. This isn't...eh, it's just the pleasure of being able to trust there is excellent story before even beginning to read. I have the utmost respect, not just for your writing, but your ability to support a small and close fandom.

Maybe on the writing. (Oh, honestly, who am I kidding? Everything I can find on Quaker participation in the ambulance corps is already in the post.) Time, however, is a little fractious right now, and I am, inevitably, committed elsewhere.

It's lovely to see things happen over at renaultx, and the very, very best of luck to everyone involved.
