“Truly, kid? I don’t know,” Kangin had said, as casually as one could after almost
choking on his coffee. Kyuhyun failed to notice that his eyes were flashing back to
the door, watching for someone to come in. “He’s not the type to kiss and tell his
inner-most feelings about random first years he abducts. Sure, he told me he kissed
you, but I just got the vibe that it was one of those I-was-terribly-drunk-so-hey-what’s-
for-dinner things he does.” If Kangin cared about Kyuhyun gaping at him like he was
psychotic, then he was terribly good at hiding it.
“But that still doesn’t tell me what I should do! Aren’t you and Heechul any
help at all?!”
“Kid, if there’s one thing you need to make sure you get clear, it’s-”
But just as Kangin might have actually tried to say something helpful, the TA walked
in. It wasn’t so much ‘walked in’ as it was a wildly dramatic pause that clearly was
lacking only the epic background music, like in the movies. Kyuhyun had nervously
looked from him to Kangin and back again, as Eeteuk had paused at the door, almost
dropping everything in his hands, and staring straight at Kangin for a few seconds
before making his way into the room, pausing in front of the two.
“I don’t believe you’re in this class.” He had stated. The stack of papers and books
he had been carrying teetered precariously in his arms. It was kinda hard to miss
Kangin anywhere, Kyuhyun had to be honest. But Kangin looked completely at
ease, leaning back in his chair with a bright smile on his face.
“I’m not,” Kangin had said, that smile oddly widening on his face, and slug his arm
around Kyuhyun shoulders. The younger had jumped at the contact, before offered
his TA a confused smile none the less. “But I’m thinking about enrolling next year, so
I’m sitting in. My friend here-” (he had over emphasised the word friend wildly,
Kyuhyun thought warily) “-said it’d be ok if I do. It is ok, isn’t it, Park-ssi?”
Eeteuk had blanched a little at Kangin’s story while Kyuhyun’s mind had begun to run
scenarios of how to explain to his parent that he’d been kicked out of a class due to
social problems and knowing wildly stupid upperclassmen. Much to Kyuhyun’s relief,
Eeteuk had only scowled a little before giving the pair a curt nod that made the ponytail
at the back of his head bounce sharply, before walking up to the front of the class.
“Um, maybe you should move your arm?” Kyuhyun had questioned a few seconds
later, Kangin’s arm still wrapped around his shoulder. Kangin gave his shoulder a
squeeze before pulling him close and whispering in his ear.
“Naw, trust me on this one, ok?”
Kyuhyun gave a weak smile before opening his notes.
-
“Well that sucked,” Kyuhyun thought to himself, checking his phone for the time
(and ignoring the queasy feeling when he saw three missed called from Sungmin in
the past 24 hours) as he walked away from his tutorial an hour and a half later. In the
end, Kangin hadn’t been too much of a help on the subject, and he had been clingy,
which was weird; the older boy hadn’t moved his arm from around Kyuhyun’s shoulders
the whole class and every so often, Kangin had placed his hand on his thigh. His TA had
shot them dirty looks and Kyuhyun made a mental note to never bring him to that tutorial
ever again. He really didn’t understand why he couldn’t have nice, sane friends.
-
“Just thought I should let you know, kid’s all freaked about you kissing him. That
non-drunk-as-fuck one. That’s why he’s been avoiding you like you’re the plague.”
There was a few seconds of silence over the line.
“Well.” A pause. “Shit.”
“Yeah, maybe get on fixing that?”
“But did he say-?”
“Naw, I’m guessing it’s all a no-go from how freaked he is. That one’s a little skittish
and hilarious, but he’s a good kid. Though you’ll never fucking guess who one of his
TA’s is-”
-
“I’ve waited since I first saw you for this,” Sungmin said slowly, perched on the corner
of Kyuhyun’s bed. His hair was dishevelled and his button down shirt was left open. He
crawled closer, until he straddled Kyuhyun where he lay flat on his bed. He pulled at the
collar of Kyuhyun’s shirt slightly before pressing himself nearer, slowly tilting his face
closer to whisper in his ear. “Did you know that?”
Kyuhyun took a sharp breath went Sungmin’s lips connected to his neck, warm and
wet. Hardly realizing what he was doing, he lifted his hands to run his fingers through
Sungmin’s hair. He let his hands tangle themselves into the pink strands before pulling
softly to bring the other boy back.
Sungmin bit his lip- before breaking out into a loud pop song; Kyuhyun, flailing as his
phone awoke him from his dream, never truly hated modern technology until that point.
“Bwah?” he grumbled into the receiver, rubbing his eyes furiously to rid them of sleep
(and the image of a debauched Sungmin) and sitting up from his rumpled sheets.
“Whazzat?”
“You. What the fuck. Is it lets-ignore-me week and I didn’t get the memo?”
He pulled his phone back to gawk at his phone for a moment, now fully awake from
his impromptu nap. Fuck! he mouthed to himself for not checking his caller display
before pulling the phone back to his ear.
“I- No? What?” (Fuck! he silently screamed again, falling back against his bed.)
“I had an essay… I was ignoring everyone?”
“So Kangin’s not part of everyone? He said he and you hung out today.”
“I saw him randomly! And he followed me to my tutorial! It was completely his fault
that I saw him. And… I’m sorry?”
“Well, whatever,” Sungmin huffed, his breath making the phone crackled painfully
loud in Kyuhyun’s ear. He winced; that was completely on purpose. “Party at my
house. Tomorrow. You’re there or I’m kicking your ass.”
He cringed at the sound of the dial tone. He really didn’t understand why he
couldn’t have nice, sane friends.
-
“Wow,” Kangin exclaimed the next night as he opened the door to reveal Kyuhyun
and Heechul. Heechul had draped himself over Kyuhyun, which the younger had
found was becoming more of a trend, much to his embarrassment. An awkward,
awkward trend. “You actually came?”
“Yeah. I figured it’d be easier if Sungmin killed me now for ignoring him for over
a week rather than him sneak in and kill me in my sleep,” he had replied. Heechul
grinned.
“I’d let him in, so either would have been convenient for him, I think. Don’t worry,”
Heechul stated cheerfully, but a second later he detangled himself from Kyuhyun,
catching sight of someone inside. “Jesus, Siwon’s here?! I’ll see you sometime
tomorrow, kiddo!”
Kangin laughed wildly as Heechul quickly detangled himself from a rather confused
Kyuhyun and half running down the hall.
“Who the hell’s Siwon?” Kyuhyun questioned, peeking around the corner Heechul
had gone down after Kangin had composed himself enough to usher the other through
the door and into the house.
“A second year in economics. Kinda famous around campus for being a total
religion lover; he’s the very…” Kangin paused, fingers idly stroking an imaginary
beard. “-vocal head of the Christian club. But Heechul has a thing for him. Something
about a washboard stomach and arms? I really don’t know. I really don’t want to
know. Anyways, Sungmin’s around here somewhere, so off you go!” Kangin made
shooing motions before pushing him forward into the living room.
Weaving his way through the house in search for Sungmin, he found that for once, he
couldn’t find him amongst the various people.
“Hey! Kyuhyun!” a voice shouted from behind him, and he turned around to see
Donghae from his history class bouncing behind him, a beer clutched loosely in his
hands. “You’ve totally been outta the loop. Where have you been?”
“I’ve… essay. I’ve been essaying,” Kyuhyun said trying to keep a guilty blush off his
cheeks, glancing around for any sight of pink. “Ok, have you seen Sungmin anywhere?
He’s gonna kill me, so I thought I’d get it over with swiftly, you know?”
“I think I saw him go off in the direction of his room? Or something? Hyukjae might’ve
been there too? I usually blame Hyukjae for these things.” Donghae frowned slightly
before he caught sight of someone, and took off, tackle-hugging someone, spilling his
beer on both of them to the vocal disproval of the person.
-
When Kyuhyun actually found Sungmin, it was a little bit different from what he
was expecting:
“Oh, Kyuhyun, hey,” Sungmin had managed to drawl, lips slick and kiss-bruised,
as he flicked his (now dyed black) hair out of his eyes. He had Sooyoung, a girl he
remembered seeing from one of Sungmin’s gender studies classes, pressed up against
the bathroom wall, his hands resting on her thighs under the fabric of her skirt, she
with one of her hands up his shirt while the other was teasing the waistband of his
jeans. “Give us a minute?”
