Last night I made a buche de noel cake for the first time ever. I had a good teacher, and I feel confident about trying to do it again on my own. I also feel more confident about getting Swiss buttercream and meringue right. Funny how simple things can feel overwhelming, but having someone show me how to do it in a very low key way helps

And on behalf of journalists everywhere, thank you for supporting a principled, proactive free press. That adds up, too. I want to stay in this profession, which is one of the few places in my life where I've felt like I've done some small good. I don't wanna lose that. I don't wanna throw in my lot with those Macedonian kids who blithely pitched in to wreck this country, then smoked and drank off the proceeds.
