I've been reading a lot for my summer classes and for personal indulgence.
Here is a brief list of what is on the list: The Handmaid's Tale--I've been meaning to read this one for years and I am so glad that I am well into it. Although the disutopian society construct isn't my favourite, I have greatly enjoyed Atwood's style and technique.
Selected Poems of Gaspara Stampa--Once my Swedish is perfected, I fully intend on reading her writing in the original Italian. However, I enjoy the English translation as well.
The Memoirs of Lady Hygeyong Hong: The Memoirs of a Crown Princess of Korea (1735-1815)--This stunning lady may be the subject of my next novel after the one on Margaret Pole is complete. In December I read Margaret Drabble's novel, The Red Queen, a split novel covering both the life of Lady Hong and a modern-day British journalist in Seoul. The writing of Lady Hong is remarkably modern and her story especially poignant. Her husband was the infamous
