The sense of foreboding in this is almost unbearable. From James' POV, this is very nicely done. Jack and Jonah together aboard a ship by themselves is like putting a lighted torch and a keg of gunpowder in the same place. The question isn't what is going to happen but when. I do so hope Jack gets the Pearl back. *Notice I am tactfully not mentioning Jack getting Will back.*

FYI -- "naught" doesn't mean "not," it means "nothing," as in "all for naught" (all for nothing).
